Admission Policy

Maxwell Adventist Academy will consider for admission high school-age children of inter-division(IDE) workers from the East-Central Africa Division. It will also consider the children of IDE workers of the Seventh-day Adventist Church from outside this area.

Under certain conditions and with available space, Seventh-day Adventists living in the area served by Maxwell Adventist Academy, though from families not directly employed by the Seventh-day Adventist Church, will be considered. Non-Seventh-day Adventist students may also be considered. Due to the changing enrollment demands of our constituency, non-constituent students will be admitted on a yearly basis only.

Only students who desire to show due respect for the Word of God, maintain a reverent attitude toward that which is spiritual , and conduct themselves in harmony with the standards of Christian education as upheld by the Seventh-day Adventist Church are encouraged to apply for admission to Maxwell Adventist Academy. All students must make formal application, or re-application and receive an acceptance before coming.

Because we strongly agree with the inspired counsel that it is best of children to remain at home during their younger years, and because of their tender age where they are easily influenced, Maxwell Adventist Academy will not consider for admission elementary boarding students except in occasional extreme cases. The school administration and the Board of Directors reserve the sole right to determine whether a case is extreme or not.

In order for a student to do well, it is best that he / she has reached the age of fourteen to enter the ninth grade, fifteen for tenth grade, sixteen for eleventh grade, and seventeen for twelfth grade. Anyone applying from outside the North American system of education will be placed by the Academics Standards Committee based on the results of a placement test, age, and previous academic records. Students may be placed at a grade level lower than their age group due to language or educational system challenges.

Class placement and courses required will be determined by testing and the official transcript from the previous school, which must be presented to the registrar at registration or before. The deadline for late admissions is two weeks after the first day of school each semester. (Exceptions are made only for IDE students.)
